With the arrival of Alden and Sydney I have decided to stop posting on the Daily Tyler. The 500+ posts that make up the Daily Tyler capture a wonderful and amazing time in our lives.

So we move on to the Daily Milstead that you can find linked at www.milsteadfamily.com. You will find the same style of news with new twists for photos. Enjoy!

Tyler Cousteau

Last weekend Tyler and I were out for a walk. As we passed the pool he spotted a woman coming out of the gate. It was all I could do to keep up with him when he sprinted home to don his suit.

When we arrived at the pool there were two boys, around 6 years of age, splashing in the pool. Both had on wetsuits of a sort that had foam sewn into the shirt portion for flotation. Between the two of them they had a collection of fins, googles and snorkels. Tyler was entranced and very politely requested a full kit of swimming gear.

Watch the video to see the result.

Tylerisms

Smile
More than just isms here are a few moments that give me pause to marvel at Tyler:
-last week we were playing a game with some flashcards. Each card had either a picture of an animal or the animal's name. Not both. I held up the card that read LION and asked Tyler what it said. "Lion". Wow.
-when Tyler came in from the sandbox this afternoon he took his shoes off before entering.
-Tyler helps Millie with her shoes.
-he offered to share his chocolate with me today. "Do you want the chocolate on my right knee or my left knee?"
-Tyler gave me accurate directions, while I was driving, so that I would open the sunroof.

Mother's Day

A fine day it was. Millie and Tyler slept in while I prepared cinnamon rolls. Our leisurely morning passed and then Millie went for an afternoon massage. While she was out Tyler and went for an hour run in preparation for Bay to Breakers next week. Tyler was a great coach and kept me talking for the most of the run. After about 35 minutes he started telling me knock-knock jokes. They go like this:

"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Mickey Mouse's underwear." Then laugh alot.

Preschool is a wonderful thing.Midway on the run

He fell asleep about 45 minutes into the run and stayed that way until I fumbled him into the car. He grumpily rejected ice cream (!) but was keen for the playground.

Tyler's energy returned at the playground. We ran everywhere and had a great time. The video tells it all.

No more jumping

Jump, originally uploaded by RMilstead.

While in mid-jump, I asked Tyler if he remembered a zong about jumping on the bed. He began to sing the "No more monkeys jumping on the bed" classic. Each verse ends in the doctore saying that monkeys should avoid bed jumping due to possible cranial bumps.

I asked Tyler if he might bump his head while jumping.

"No. I jump in the middle."
